By looking at your yesteday's shot and this one I am shocked Neil! I can't remember having seen such scenes 30 years ago and yet I used to visit often large cities, even Soweto and Alexandra. What's going on in RSA?

I have thought long and hard about how best to approach this reply and have decided that whilst not wishing to be overly political, an honest opinion is called for:

You will recall Hillbrow of the late 70s as being such a wonderful place to "jol" , a place that was safe and fun - alas, since the change to a "democratically elected" Government in 1994, many places, including Hillbrow have degenerated into hotbeds of crime, prostitution and drug taking.
The state of the country as a whole has regressed economically to the point of SA being regarded once again as a 3rd World Nation - the "gravy train" has become full of fat cats who do not give a damn for their own people, hospitals, schools, roads, life - these have all reach record lows of neglect, corruption and theft has reached epic proportions and people like this chap must suffer, begging for a meal, while the President that he likely voted for, spends R75 million of taxpayers' money on an inauguration "jolly".
The gent in this photograph, is one of 100s of thousands living like this now and that is a situation that is only likely to get worse - one only need look beyond the immediate border with Zimbabwe to see the full effects that greed and despotism have had and one can certainly envisage the same scenario ocurring in S.A. if this decline is allowed to continue.
